Althea is an invite-only private society for women physicians seeking space to mentally stretch, reclaim themselves, and find work-life-balance among each other.  

It's a safe space to come together and talk about anything and everything, without the fear of being judged or accosted.  It is a forum to be real, to partake, to listen, to give of ourselves and to take feedback and guidance from others. 

Althea is an invite-only society for women physicians. It was created this way to facilitate discussions for a group of like-minded women with similar life-work challenges. The founding members of Althea will be invited by to join by Althea's founder, Mariela Alvarez-Sosa, and some of her trusted colleagues and Advisory Board members.  Once the first cohort of women physician members is created, existing Althea sisters will take on the responsibility of carefully selecting other potential members to join.  This will be done one-on-one and by invitation only. The foundation of Althea is trust and hence why the need to keep this a private member-only society. 

We know that there are many sites available for free that offer information and resources for women physicians. We are grateful that those sites exist and encourage you to explore and partake of their offerings. Althea, however, is intentionally curated content, nurtured and exclusive. It filters through the noise to provide alternatives and solutions in an already crowded environment.  We know it's not a one-size fits all and understand it may not be match for everyone.  Membership fee in Althea is in the form of a one-time enrollment fee of $528 (or $52.80 for medical students, resident, and fellows).  See the "Join the Althea Society" section for more details. 

Althea is a women physician only society.  We are currently exploring expanding the concept to other professional groups of like-minded individuals but it may take some time before we are ready to launch.  If you have a group you'd like for us to consider, send us an email to membership@altheasociety.com.
