Althea's Living Tenets

Confidentiality is non-negotiable in Althea. Ever. Personal stories, professional struggles, career conversations, family matters, and vulnerable moments shared within this community are not to be repeated outside of this forum.

This space only works if people feel safe being real.

Assume good intent. 

Give one another grace. 

Not every conversation will be polished, perfectly worded, or fully formed — and that’s okay. Be authentically you.

We are here to support each other, not scrutinize each other.

 Transparency matters. 

Speak truthfully, communicate directly, and avoid gossip, passive aggression, or incendiary topics within Althea. Respect each other.

Difficult conversations are welcome. Disrespect is not.

 There is room for all of us in Althea and beyond.

Celebrate wins without comparison. Share opportunities. Open doors. Offer guidance. Recommend one another. Support growth without gatekeeping.

The goal is collective elevation, not individual status.

Strong communities are built by consistent small actions. 

That means you commit to showing up with integrity, participating thoughtfully, respecting boundaries and time, and following through on commitments. And above all, protecting the reputation and trust of the Althea and its Sisters.

 Not performative kindness. Real kindness.

Listen well. Encourage generously. Correct gently. Include intentionally. Remember that every woman here is carrying responsibilities and pressures that may not be visible.

We can be accomplished and compassionate at the same time.

This is not a place where anyone needs to pretend to have it all together.

Members are encouraged to show up as whole people — physician, leader, partner, mother, mentor, friend, caregiver, human.

Perfection is not the standard. Presence is.

Negativity, bullying, divisiveness, exclusionary behavior, or repeated disrespect toward members will not be tolerated. Ever.

A healthy community requires psychological safety.

Althea is safe space.

Professional collaboration and business sharing are welcome when done thoughtfully and transparently.

Althea is a relationship-first community. Respect each other. Respect each other's time. Respect each other's space. Period.

Offer encouragement. Share wisdom. Extend mentorship. Lean in. Reach back. Reach across.

The strength of Althea will be measured not only by the success of its Sisters, but by how deeply we support one another along the way.
