The Magnolia Council

The Magnolia Council serves as the steward of Althea's mission, values, and future growth. Comprised of nine accomplished women leaders—including the Founder, five physician members, and three distinguished non-clinical professionals—the Council provides strategic guidance, wisdom, and accountability to ensure that Althea remains true to its founding principles while thoughtfully evolving to meet the needs of its members.

The Council exists not to govern, but to guide. Its role is to help shape the vision, influence the direction, and preserve the spirit of Althea as a trusted community where women physicians can connect authentically, grow intentionally, and thrive personally and professionally.

Responsibilities

Members of The Magnolia Council are entrusted with:

Preserving and protecting the core tenets of Althea, including authenticity, integrity, trust, confidentiality, kindness, growth, and community.
Providing strategic insight and counsel regarding the organization's direction, initiatives, programs, and member experience.
Serving as ambassadors for Althea, expanding awareness, fostering meaningful relationships, and identifying opportunities for growth and collaboration.
Offering diverse perspectives that reflect the many dimensions of women's lives, careers, leadership journeys, and personal experiences.
Supporting the cultivation of a vibrant, inclusive, and engaged membership community.
Advising on long-term sustainability, organizational development, partnerships, and expansion opportunities.
Helping ensure that every decision made in the name of Althea remains aligned with its purpose and values.

Composition

The Council consists of nine members:

Founder and Chair
Five Women Physicians representing diverse specialties, career stages, backgrounds, and leadership experiences
Three Accomplished Non-Clinical Women Leaders whose expertise contributes perspectives from business, academia, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, law, wellness, or other fields that support the advancement of women

Together, these members represent a collective commitment to elevating women, fostering connection, and creating meaningful impact.

Commitment

Council members are expected to actively participate in quarterly meetings, contribute thoughtful guidance, serve as champions of the Althea mission, and model the values that define the organization. Members are selected not only for their accomplishments, but for their character, wisdom, generosity, and dedication to supporting other women.

Guiding Principle

Above all, The Magnolia Council exists to ensure that Althea remains a place where women physicians can return to themselves—a community rooted in trust, strengthened by authenticity, and guided by the belief that when women thrive, their impact extends far beyond themselves. The Council's responsibility is to safeguard that vision for generations to come.
